Another late night creep...

Get your mind out the gutter. I had to sneak and post a blog. Last time, I posted it was pretty late as well. I should be studying, but I vowed I would fit more time in for my baby-this blog. Not that I was really get much done anyways.

Okay I wanted to list some topics/address I will address at a later date.

-"The Game" officially back on
-Vibe Magazine being relaunched
-Halloween Costume Ideas
-Hair and Skin
-Water
-YouTube Videos
-Film Architecture, the best class of my semester, so far
-Houston
-Dear Winter
-Reading is Fundamental
-Sneakers
-Tar-jay (Target for all you non-familiar)
-Long Tall Sally
-Oldies, but Greaties (music, television, books, etc)
-"Friend in My Head" (coined by Wendy Williams, how you dewwing)

Okay, I'm sure there is more, but a sister needs to get back to the books. This is actually a successful all-nighter.

I usually in up like this (minus the dog) HAHAHA!

I just had an epiphany..

So I'm up at 3 am having a full on VH1 marathon since it seems as if they are focusing on music tonight. Yeah , I know it may have been a fluke, but it's definitely a million times better than those cheesy love reality shows. I watched Behind the Music of Pink, Lil Wayne, and 50 cent then Hip Hop Honors Def Jam's 25th Anniversary. I'm so happy Behind the Music is back because when I was younger I probably watched every BTM. Oh the good ol days, when music channels were all about music. Can you tell I'm no longer a fan of today's music channels?

Anyways, I say all of that because I got to thinking while sitting on the couch in my apartment, you know these artists have passion for what they do. Something I don't have anymore. See I gave up my role on a D-1 basketball to focus more on my studies. I know it was the best decision for me, but basketball was a part of my identity since I was in 3rd grade. So giving that up, left me feeling like a piece of me was gone. And if you've ever walked away from something extremely important in your life, you know where I'm coming from.

I found myself as a regular student (no offense to the regular students) with a lot of free time that I wasn't used to. No more structure to my day and my schedule didn't revolve around practice or games. And now I'm procrastinating more and more and bored if I'm not in class or doing work.

I recently had a conversation with a really good friend of mine, who is going through similar time. We talked about how weird it feels to be without our sport and how bad we need a hobby or more than one. But what could I do? A wii? Knitting?

And then at 3 am, it hit me! Relaunch my blog. It was just that simple. And though it can't fill that void completely, but it would be great in addition to all the other extracurriculars I'm apart of.

I'M BACK, BABY! HATE OR LOVE IT!

Summer School Finals!

So I'm in this month long business program until July. It's pretty intense to 5 days a week. Just letting yall know what's up! I haven't abandoned the blog, but posting will be scarce. I love yall and remember "Pray about everything and worry about nothing!"

Here's one of my favorite songs. I definitely need to hear some praise music when I have 4 test tomorrow!

IT'S MY NAPPIVERSARY!!!

Singing to my hair: "Do you know what today is? It's our anniversary!"

Yall remember that song "Anniversary" by Tony! Toni! Toné!, right? Well, this time last year (June 14, 2008) I made a big decision to cut off all the processed hair and become 100% Natural. (Left: picture of me after I got my big chop cut)

I was spending my summer in Rhode Island to work at school. There had been a huge heat wave that week in Providence. I was living in a third story room in a house with no air conditioner, which made it feel 10 degrees hotter than outside. After a week of sweating in the house, I had had enough!

At the time I was rocking a full sew-in and my head was burning up! So I took a huge leap and said "TO HECK WITH IT". Made a call to a nearby hair salon and told my beautician to cut it all off! I was going to live free from that point on.

After it was all said and done, I felt liberated and felt this love for myself that was stronger than before. And like that Destiny's Child song says, "Ain't no feeling like being free"! June 14th is very special to me. You may not understand it fully, but I made a choice that day to express myself freely, to not be conformed by society's standards, and to stop caring about what other folks thought of me.

Those same objectives are the reason I created this blog. June 14th will not only be my nappiversary, but the birth date of my blog. This blog will serve as a haven for my thoughts where others could read and view my journey through life. There are no specific topics I will focus on, just think of it as a LIFESTYLE blog!

I hope that through my words that a glimpse of my light will shine through and brighten up your world a little!
